{"id":9847,"date":"2025-10-22T10:00:32","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T17:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/?p=9847"},"modified":"2026-03-30T09:16:36","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T16:16:36","slug":"seiu-925-libraries-uw-negotiations-recap-for-october-22-2025","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/2025\/10\/22\/seiu-925-libraries-uw-negotiations-recap-for-october-22-2025","title":{"rendered":"SEIU 925 Libraries \u2013 UW Negotiations Recap for October 22, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This recap details the first session for the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the University of Washington and SEIU 925 \u2013 Libraries.<\/p>\n<p>During the initial bargaining session, both parties gave introductions, discussed ground rules, and the Union presented their priorities for this contract, which included the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Compensation<\/li>\n<li>Layoff Protections<\/li>\n<li>Professional Staff Equity and Librarian Equity<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to DEI and Academic Freedom<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable Workloads<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Union Initial Proposals<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Article 31 \u2013 Civil\/Jury Duty Time Off and Bereavement Time Off: <\/strong>The Union proposed to increase the amount of bereavement days available to bargaining unit employees from three (3) to five (5) days. Additionally, the Union proposed to expand the definition of \u201cfamily member\u201d for use of bereavement time off with new language that would include close members of an employee\u2019s chosen family.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>The next SEIU 925-Libraries and UW bargaining session is scheduled for November 4, 2025, and will be held in-person at the UDSB Gateway Building.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This recap details the first session for the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the University of Washington and SEIU 925 \u2013 Libraries.
