{"id":9075,"date":"2025-05-23T10:20:59","date_gmt":"2025-05-23T17:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/labor\/?p=9075"},"modified":"2025-05-23T10:20:59","modified_gmt":"2025-05-23T17:20:59","slug":"uw-wsna-montlake-northwest-joint-negotiations-recap-for-may-22-2025-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/2025\/05\/23\/uw-wsna-montlake-northwest-joint-negotiations-recap-for-may-22-2025-2","title":{"rendered":"UW \u2013 WSNA Montlake\/Northwest Joint Negotiations Recap for May 22, 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This recap details the ninth session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the UW and WSNA Montlake &amp; WSNA Northwest.<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Employer Initial Proposals<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p>On the following <strong>Montlake<\/strong> contract provisions, the Employer proposed to maintain current contract language:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preamble<\/li>\n<li>Article 1 \u2013 Purpose<\/li>\n<li>Article 2 \u2013 Nondiscrimination<\/li>\n<li>Article 4 \u2013 Recognition<\/li>\n<li>Article 12 \u2013 Holiday and Vacation Time Off<\/li>\n<li>Article 13 \u2013 Family Medical Leave and Parental Leave<\/li>\n<li>Article 18 \u2013 Employee Facilities<\/li>\n<li>Article 21 \u2013 Seniority, Layoff, and Rehire<\/li>\n<li>Article 23 \u2013 Worker&#8217;s Compensation Leave<\/li>\n<li>Article 24 \u2013 Management Rights and Responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Article 25 \u2013 Performance of Duty<\/li>\n<li>Article 26 \u2013 Complete Understanding<\/li>\n<li>Article 27 \u2013 Insurance and Pension<\/li>\n<li>Article 28 \u2013 Savings Clause<\/li>\n<li>Appendix I \u2013 Pay Tables<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; Premiums at UWMC-Montlake<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; Public Records Requests and Privacy<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; Standby<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; Voluntary Float Between Montlake and NW Campuses<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; Voluntary Standby in the Perinatal Daily and Neonatal ICU Unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the following <strong>Northwest <\/strong>contract provisions, the Employer proposed to maintain current contract language:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preamble<\/li>\n<li>Article 1 \u2013 Recognition<\/li>\n<li>Article 10 \u2013 Holiday and Vacation Time Off<\/li>\n<li>Article 12 \u2013 Medical and Insurance Benefits<\/li>\n<li>Article 14 \u2013 Family Medical Leave Act and Parental Leave<\/li>\n<li>Article 18 \u2013 Management Responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Article 19 \u2013 Uninterrupted Patient Care<\/li>\n<li>Article 20 \u2013 General Provisions<\/li>\n<li>Appendix A \u2013 Training Agreement<\/li>\n<li>Appendix E \u2013 Pay Table<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; BSN Scholarship Program<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; Open Shifts<\/li>\n<li>MOU &#8211; Voluntary Float Between UWMC-NW and Montlake Campuses<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h5><strong>Employer Counter Proposals<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>Employment Practices (Montlake Article 11 &amp; Northwest Article 5) \u2013 <\/strong>The Employer rejected the Union\u2019s proposal to create exclusive Workplace Violence Committees for both UWMC-Montlake and UWMC-Northwest, and alternatively proposed language stating that WSNA may request a separate JLM to discuss workplace violence issues specific to each campus. In response to the Union\u2019s proposal to allow 4 RNs to serve on the Montlake committee and 3 RNs on the Northwest committee, the Employer counter proposed to allow 2 RNs from both campuses to serve on the Workplace violence committee, totaling 4 total WSNA-represented RNs. The Employer also proposed to add language stating that additional members may be invited to attend committee meetings on an ad hoc basis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nonpermanent and Intermittent (Formerly Per Diem) Nurses (Montlake Article 30 &amp; Northwest Article 22) \u2013 <\/strong>In response to the Union\u2019s proposal around hours worked for nonpermanent and intermittent employees for just cause eligibility, the Employer counter proposed language clarifying the current practice and stating that hours worked in a permanent position prior to moving into a nonpermanent or intermittent position do not count towards the 1,872 hours threshold for just cause eligibility.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW and WSNA bargaining session is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and will be held via Zoom.
