Recaps are published online on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-continuum-college\/negotiation-updates\">UW Labor Relations website.<\/a><\/p>\n<h4><strong>SEIU 925- Continuum College Initial Proposals<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Community Service Days<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-33-community-service-days\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract. The Union is proposing that the employee can pick the community service and the activities would be focused on ways to help improve upon, call attention to, or promote a better understanding of disparities in educational access tied directly to Continuum College\u2019s mission.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Transportation, Travel, and Commute Reduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-36-transportation-travel-and-commute-reduction\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract. The Union proposed language around emergency rides home being reimbursed by UW Transportation Services up to eight times per year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Classification and Reclassification<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-15-classification-and-reclassification\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract. The Union also incorporated sections from the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925\/contract#article-44-classifications-and-reclassification\">SEIU 925 <\/a>contract regarding if an employee occupying a position reallocated to a class with a lower salary range maximum due to a class being created, abolished or modified would be placed at a step on the new range closest to but not less than their current rate of pay, up to the max auto step. If an employee&#8217;s current salary is above max auto step, the employee&#8217;s salary would be y-rated (frozen) until the new range catches up.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Contract Distribution<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-52-contract-distribution\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Contracting<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-44-contracting\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Exit Interviews<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-43-exit-interviews\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Financial Communications &amp; Transparency<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that states to ensure employees remain informed about funding that may impact programs, projects, and organizational priorities, the Employer would make every effort to communicate relevant financial information. To facilitate this, Continuum College would maintain a page on its internal HUB that communicates the information.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Health Care Benefits Amounts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-35-health-care-benefits-amounts\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract. The Union proposed updating the dates to reflect the next biennium.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Privacy<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-47-privacy\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Subordination of Agreement and Savings Clause<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-55-subordination-of-agreement-and-savings-clause\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Tuition Exemption Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-49-tuition-exemption-program\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Union Activities, Rights, and Stewards<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-45-union-activities-rights-and-stewards\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Union Membership, Dues Deduction, and Status Reports<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Union proposed an article that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-53-union-membership-dues-deduction-and-status-reports\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>UW &#8211; Counter Proposals<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>Side Letter \u2013 Paid Sick Leave for Immigration Proceedings<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed that the Employer would implement House Bill 1875 on July 27, 2025.\u00a0 House Bill 1875 states that eligible employees may utilize sick time off \u201cto allow the employee to prepare for, or participate in, any judicial or administrative immigration proceeding involving the employee or employee&#8217;s family member.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article- Employee Assistance Program<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to include a sentence from the EAP website that the Washington State Employee Assistance Program (WA EAP) supports PEBB-eligible University of Washington employees and their household members to help identify and resolve personal concerns to promote individual and workplace wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article- Health and Safety<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to streamline the article and remove sections that do not apply to office workers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article- Performance Evaluations<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to counter the Union proposed article Performance Evaluations which was an expansion of the Performance Evaluations article from <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925-ihme\/contract#article-17-performance-evaluations\">SEIU 925 \u2013 IHME<\/a> contract to also incorporate sections from the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/academic-and-student-unions\/seiu-925-libraries\/contract#article-22-performance-evaluations\">SEIU 925 \u2013 Libraries<\/a> contract with a counter based off of the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/seiu-925\/contract#article-34-performance-evaluation\">SEIU 925<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article- Federal Family Medical Leave Act<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to streamline the article and direct employees to the policy website <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/ops\/leaves\/fmla\/\">https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/ops\/leaves\/fmla\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Article- Parental Leave<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed to create a separate article for Parental Leave based on the language proposed by the Union. The Employer proposed employee\u2019s on parental leave may use unpaid time off before applicable accrued time off.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article- Personnel Files <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed language that matches much of the same language from the similar article in the <a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/staff-unions\/uaw-research-scientist-engineers\/uaw-rse-contract#article-24-personnel-files\">UAW RSE<\/a> contract.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article \u2013 Transportation, Travel, and Commute Reduction<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In response to the Union, the Employer proposed language from the Transportation Services website that clarifies that emergency rides home being reimbursed by UW Transportation Services up to eight times per year are to the employee\u2019s home, park &amp; ride, daycare or hospital and in order to be reimbursed, receipts, along with the reason for the ride, must be submitted to Transportation Services within three months of date of the emergency ride home.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps<\/strong><br \/>\nThe next UW &amp; SEIU Continuum College bargaining session is scheduled for June 4, 2025 and will be held in person.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background This recap details the ninth session for the negotiation for the collective bargaining agreement between SEIU 925-Continuum College and UW.
