Recaps are published online on the<a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/unions\/1199-research-hall-health\/seiu-1199-researchhall-health-negotiation-updates\"> UW Labor Relations website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tentative Agreements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The parties signed tentative agreements to close the following provisions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Article 5 \u2013 Union Dues Deduction\n<ul>\n<li>Added language outlining the roster reports provided to the Union each pay period<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 16 \u2013 Committees\n<ul>\n<li>Maintained current contract language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 18 &#8211; Classifications\n<ul>\n<li>Maintained current contract language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 26 Grievance Procedure\n<ul>\n<li>Added language detailing the components of a written grievance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 37 \u2013 Miscellaneous Leave\n<ul>\n<li>Maintained current contract language<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 43 \u2013 Military Leave\n<ul>\n<li>Added holiday credit to the list of paid leave types that could be used to cover military leave<\/li>\n<li>Added language to reflect the law which states if an employee is scheduled to work a shift that begins on one calendar day and ends on the next, the employee is charged military leave only for the first calendar day<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Union Proposal<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>FMLA\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 SEIU 1199 tentatively accepted UW\u2019s proposal to remove the six-month cap on interspersal of accrued leave for continuation of health insurance benefits, and extend it to the duration of the approved leave.\u00a0 The Union rejected the Employer\u2019s proposal that would require the interspersed paid leave to be applied to the first working day of the month.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employer Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Union Delegates <\/strong>\u2013 UW modified its proposal to state that the Union would primarily conduct representational duties within their area of employment.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sick Leave\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 UW rejected the Union\u2019s proposal for the Employer to front load sixteen hours of sick time upon hire (the equivalent of two months of sick time accrual for a full-time employee).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Preceptor Premium Pay\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 UW rejected the Union\u2019s proposal to remove the current requirement for a preceptor to complete a preceptor workshop prior to being eligible for preceptor pay.\u00a0 The Employer rejected the Union\u2019s proposal to remove language stating the preceptor is eligible to receive the premium pay only when engaged in preceptor role responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Non-Discrimination\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal, the Employer modified its proposal to add language extending the timeline to file a grievance alleging a violation of the non-discrimination provision to 180 days.\u00a0 The Employer added language stating that when a grievance or complaint is filed, the University will implement interim measures as appropriate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW-SEIU 1199 bargaining session is tentatively scheduled for September 25, and the next UW-Coalition bargaining session is scheduled for September 13.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Background This recap details the fifth session for the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement between the UW and the SEIU 1199NW Research\/Hall Health Bargaining Unit, set to expire on [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":44,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"_lmt_disableupdate":"","_lmt_disable":"","footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-2704","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-negotiation-update","union-seiu-1199-research-hall-health-rns","duration-2019-2021","search_bucket-news"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.2 -
