Recaps are published online on the<a href=\"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/labor\/unions\/1199-research-hall-health\/seiu-1199-researchhall-health-negotiation-updates\"> UW Labor Relations website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tentative Agreements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The parties signed tentative agreements to close the following provisions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Preamble\n<ul>\n<li>Housekeeping edits<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 21 \u2013 Seniority, Layoff, Rehire\n<ul>\n<li>Updated layoff unit list; added language stating nothing in the article restricts the Employer\u2019s ability to rename, reorganize, and\/or consolidate departments or divisions and the Union would have the opportunity to bargain any impacts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 32 \u2013 Complete Agreement\n<ul>\n<li>Eliminated article<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 40 \u2013 Leave Due to Family Care Emergencies\n<ul>\n<li>Modified the article from child care to family care in accordance with the relevant laws<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Article 41 \u2013 Civil\/Jury Duty Leave and Bereavement Leave\n<ul>\n<li>Added holiday credit and personal holiday as allowable leave types for bereavement leave beyond three days<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>MOU: Hall Health Hour Changes\n<ul>\n<li>Eliminated outdated MOU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>MOU: ARNP Wages\n<ul>\n<li>Eliminated outdated MOU<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The parties signed tentative agreements to maintain current contract language and close the following provisions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Article 1 \u2013 Purpose<\/li>\n<li>Article 3 \u2013 Affirmative Action<\/li>\n<li>Article 4 \u2013 Recognition\/Employer<\/li>\n<li>Article 10 \u2013 Tuition Exemption Program<\/li>\n<li>Article 17 \u2013 Employee Facilities<\/li>\n<li>Article 19 \u2013 Reclassification<\/li>\n<li>Article 20 \u2013 Corrective Action\/Dismissal Process and\/or Resignation<\/li>\n<li>Article 22 \u2013 Job Posting &amp; Transfer<\/li>\n<li>Article 23 \u2013 Worker\u2019s Compensation Leave<\/li>\n<li>Article 24 \u2013 Management Rights and Responsibilities<\/li>\n<li>Article 25 \u2013 Performance of Duty<\/li>\n<li>Article 29 \u2013 New Employee Orientation<\/li>\n<li>Article 30 \u2013 Health and Safety<\/li>\n<li>Article 31 \u2013 Subordination of Agreement and Saving Clause<\/li>\n<li>Article 39 \u2013 Unpaid Holidays for a Reason of Faith or Conscience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Union Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Break Relief <\/strong>\u2013 SEIU 1199 maintained its proposal to have a dedicated staff member at Hall Health to provide uninterrupted breaks and lunches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salary Overpayment Recovery<\/strong> \u2013 SEIU 1199 proposed new language stating that the parties have the ability to agree to a different overpayment amount than the original notice, and\/or an alternate method for deduction from wages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Employer Proposals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hours of Work <\/strong>\u2013 UW maintained its proposal to eliminate language stating that future work schedules would be mutually agreed upon, in favor of new language stating other work schedules would only be implemented in accordance with the contract provision regarding mandatory subjects.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Overtime <\/strong>\u2013 UW maintained its proposal to redefine overtime as only time worked beyond forty hours in one seven-day period.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Work Schedules<\/strong> \u2013 UW proposed new language stating volunteers would be sought prior to changing an employee\u2019s schedule.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Union Delegates\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013 UW proposed new language stating that Union delegates would conduct representational duties only within their area of employment, and that the number of stewards in a particular area would be an appropriate subject of discussion between the parties.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grievance Procedure<\/strong> \u2013 In response to the Union\u2019s proposal, UW proposed that failure to include the listed grievance contents would not be a reason to invalidate a grievance.\u00a0 The Employer modified its proposal regarding the amount of time the University has to respond to a Step 2 grievance from thirty days to twenty (currently ten).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Next Steps <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The next UW-SEIU 1199 bargaining session is scheduled for September 12, and the next UW-Coalition bargaining session is scheduled for September
