SEIU 925 Advisers – Initial Proposals

Article Personnel Files

The Union’s proposal matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME contract, adding a proposal that electronic copies of employee personnel or departmental files would be provided to employees at no cost, via secure file transfer within 15 days. The Union also proposed that documents removed from employee files pursuant to the corrective action article will be removed within ten (10) days of the exoneration.

Article –Tuition Exemption

The Union’s proposal matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME. In addition to the courses covered by Administrative Policy Statement 22.1, the Union proposed that the Employer would allow employees to use the tuition exemption benefit as matriculated or nonmatriculated students to enroll in any tuition-based course at the University of Washington following the registration process outlined in policy 22.1, and that academic departments would not use tuition exemption status as a determining factor when reviewing an employee for admission.

Article Union Activities, Rights and Stewards

The Union’s proposal matches much of the same language from the similar article in the SEIU 925 – IHME. The Union proposed to provide Labor Relations with an updated Union Steward list at least annually, with changes noted as they occur, rather than monthly. The union proposed that leave for Union business activities should be requested at least two weeks prior to the planned absence, but the employer may still approve a request for leave submitted with less than two weeks’ notice. The Union proposed that materials posted on Union bulletin boards would not require the signature of a recognized Union officer or representative.
