{"id":5396,"date":"2024-03-26T15:15:05","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T22:15:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5396"},"modified":"2025-05-06T14:46:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T21:46:10","slug":"electrician","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/comp\/classified-staff\/electrician\/","title":{"rendered":"Electrician"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18834 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22827 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform journey-level electrical work.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions allocated to this class are distinguished by the responsibility to perform journey &#8211; level electrical work in the maintenance, repair, and construction of institution facilities on 750 volt system, or less.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Alter, maintain, repair or install wiring, cables, switches, controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, instrument panels, distribution panels, buzzer and bell circuits, power circuits and communications circuits; may construct new facilities from blueprints and specifications;<\/p>\n<p>Modify, adjust, maintain, repair or install electric motors, electrical equipment, instruments such as pumps, clocks, lamps, stoves, electrical meters, timers, fans, air conditioners, refrigerators, power tools and motors;<\/p>\n<p>Rewind coils and armatures; refinish commutators; replace and reseed brushes; replace work out bearings and other motor and generator parts;<\/p>\n<p>Inspect electrical systems, communications systems and equipment to detect and correct faulty components or parts;<\/p>\n<p>Inspect and maintain high voltage power transmission systems including wires, poles, transformers carrying 750 voltage, or less;<\/p>\n<p>Perform alterations, adjustment, modification, repair and installation of electrical equipment systems;<\/p>\n<p>Develop preliminary cost estimates for installations and repairs;<\/p>\n<p>Drive service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies;<\/p>\n<p>May lead and instruct helpers as required;<\/p>\n<p>May perform work in other trades;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician; OR full journey status as an electrician in a union; OR four years&#8217; applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
