{"id":5390,"date":"2024-03-26T15:13:30","date_gmt":"2024-03-26T22:13:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=5390"},"modified":"2025-05-06T14:48:25","modified_gmt":"2025-05-06T21:48:25","slug":"electrician-high-voltage","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/comp\/classified-staff\/electrician-high-voltage\/","title":{"rendered":"Electrician-High Voltage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18830 (NE S WFSE Trades)<br \/>\n22823 (NE H NI WFSE Trades)<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform operating and maintenance work on high voltage distribution systems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Positions in this class are distinguished by the requirement to work with, install, and repair electrical distribution systems carrying 751 volts or more.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Splice electric multiple phase power cable of various types; form straight splices, joints for branch lines, and fittings for terminal connections;<\/p>\n<p>Conduct preventative maintenance program on transformers and switch gear;<\/p>\n<p>Install, connect, operate, and maintain a variety of electrical equipment including power distribution systems, portable engine generators, transformers and switches, and street lighting;<\/p>\n<p>Pull, install, test, and repair cable;<\/p>\n<p>Operate a variety of hand and power tools;<\/p>\n<p>Direct the work of apprentices or helpers as assigned;<\/p>\n<p>Drive service truck as required; load and unload materials and supplies;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completion of a recognized apprenticeship as an electrician OR full journey status as an electrician in a union; OR four years&#8217; applicable work experience. Vocational training may be substituted for work experience on a year-for-year basis.
