{"id":4871,"date":"2024-03-06T12:29:15","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T20:29:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4871"},"modified":"2025-05-22T14:17:07","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T21:17:07","slug":"patient-account-representative-lead","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/comp\/classified-staff\/patient-account-representative-lead\/","title":{"rendered":"Patient Account Representative Lead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18174 (NE S SEIU 925 Non Supv)<br \/>\n22923 (NE H NI SEIU 925 Non Supv)<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Process and resolve patient accounts receivable.<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a working lead, lead Patient Account Representatives and perform the work of a Patient Account Representative.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision, regularly assign, instruct and check the work of Patient Account Representatives, train and orient staff, provide feedback on employee performance, and identify and resolve problems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Participate in interviewing applicants and training and orienting new employees to the department;<\/p>\n<p>Provide feedback to supervisor for employee performance evaluations, corrective action plans and training plans;<\/p>\n<p>Review work and provide instruction to improve efficiencies and accuracy in account resolution and to ensure compliance with established procedures;<\/p>\n<p>Schedule coverage as needed;<\/p>\n<p>Liaise with payers and UW Medicine entities to resolve complicated billing issues;<\/p>\n<p>Answer questions from staff; identify and resolve problems or unusual situations; recommend changes as necessary;<\/p>\n<p>Monitor and evaluate policies and procedures to suggest operational changes;<\/p>\n<p>Participate in and\/or lead special project work;<\/p>\n<p>Maintain confidentiality of information, including protected health information (PHI);<\/p>\n<p>Participate in and attend meetings and training as required;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the work of Patient Account Representatives;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>High School graduation or equivalent AND three years of experience in patient accounting, customer service, or a related office environment.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>05\/01\/2018: New Class<\/p>\n<p>Classification series encompasses the work formerly performed by Patient Financial Services Specialist 1 (18081), Patient Financial Services Specialist 2 (18082), and Patient Financial Services Supervisor (18083).
