{"id":4831,"date":"2024-03-06T12:11:19","date_gmt":"2024-03-06T20:11:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4831"},"modified":"2025-05-22T14:32:51","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T21:32:51","slug":"pharmacy-technician-1","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/comp\/classified-staff\/pharmacy-technician-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Pharmacy Technician 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18947 (NE S SEIU 1199NW HMC Pharm Tech)<br \/>\n23193 (NE H NI SEIU 1199NW HMC Pharm Tech)<\/p>\n<p>18038 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<br \/>\n22475 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<\/p>\n<p><strong>BASIC FUNCTION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical tasks in a central or satellite pharmacy.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under general supervision and control of a licensed pharmacist, independently perform a variety of technical pharmaceutical functions such as compounding medications, preparing prescriptions, preparing intravenous admixtures, and performing order entry of prescriptions into the pharmacy computer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Compound and prepare medications from physician orders for oral, intravenous, rectal, and topical administration;<\/p>\n<p>Prepare prescriptions from physician orders;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in training pharmacy assistants, interns, and students;<\/p>\n<p>Perform documentation functions in designated areas of the pharmacy;<\/p>\n<p>Assist in the preparation and documentation of the process improvement program;<\/p>\n<p>Perform charging and\/or billing functions;<\/p>\n<p>Monitor and perform batch preparation of pharmaceuticals;<\/p>\n<p>Perform order entry of medication orders into the pharmacy computer;<\/p>\n<p>Perform the duties of Pharmacy Assistants<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Six months of experience as a Pharmacy Assistant.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LEGAL REQUIREMENT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>State of Washington Pharmacy Technician certification.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>05\/17\/1974: New Class<br \/>\n12\/07\/1978: Revise Class<br \/>\n06\/03\/1988: Revise Class\/Title<br \/>\n01\/10\/2003: Revise Class\/Title<br \/>\n06\/01\/2005: CSR Class Conversion<br \/>\n07\/01\/2007: General revision.
