{"id":4615,"date":"2024-02-07T11:34:10","date_gmt":"2024-02-07T19:34:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/hr.uw.edu\/comp\/?page_id=4615"},"modified":"2025-05-22T15:03:10","modified_gmt":"2025-05-22T22:03:10","slug":"pulmonary-function-technologist-1","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/v1cypwr8vx2.c.updraftclone.com\/comp\/classified-staff\/pulmonary-function-technologist-1\/","title":{"rendered":"Pulmonary Function Technologist 1"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>UW CODE AND REPRESENTATIVE GROUP<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>18417 (NE S SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<br \/>\n22600 (NE H NI SEIU 925 HCP\/LT)<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASS SERIES CONCEPT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Perform pulmonary function tests on patients; record and report results.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DEFINITION<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Prepare patients for and perform routine pulmonary function tests; record data for analysis.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Under direct supervision, perform routine pulmonary function tests such as spirometry and lung volume<\/p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL WORK<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Operate pulmonary function equipment while conducting tests such as spirometry, lung volume, diffusing capacity and flow volume loops;<\/p>\n<p>Draw and analyze arterial blood gas specimens;<\/p>\n<p>Screen spirometric tests in outpatient clinics or at bedside;<\/p>\n<p>Administer aerosolized bronchodilators;<\/p>\n<p>Administer topical or subcutaneous local anesthetics;<\/p>\n<p>Collect data; calculate and report results;<\/p>\n<p>Schedule patients for tests;<\/p>\n<p>May assist physicians and\/or higher-level Pulmonary Function Technologists in the performance of complex and elaborate testing;<\/p>\n<p>Perform related duties as required.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Completion of an accredited pulmonary function program<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>One year of pulmonary function technologist experience.<\/p>\n<p>Equivalent education and\/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and\/or registration.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CLASSIFICATION HISTORY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>12\/14\/1973: New class<br \/>\n02\/22\/1988: Revise class.
